Probe Rebuilds

Probe rebuilds

Our rebuild programme offers the highest quality available on the market today. We’ve recently invested in NADCAP compliant datalogging equipment in order to offer our customers more confidence in our rebuilt probes. Probe manufacturers normally just offer a snapshot of the rebuilt probes performance (if they even test them) in an inert or simulated endo atmosphere. We now offer a datalogged 10-15 minute chart of the probes mV output against that of our calibrated reference probe — this confirms that the normal impedance and leak tests are reflected in the actual mV in a full carbon rich atmosphere at 900 deg C, the ultimate real-life test.

We always use brand new components when rebuilding. With some suppliers’ rebuilds, you should always check which components have been replaced, and whether new components have been fitted. We always list replaced components on our documentation.

Because of this extra care we take with our testing, we can confidently offer our rebuilt probes with a 12 months warranty against defects, the same as our new probes.

We can carry out rebuilds to the following levels:

  • Internal assembly only - for thermocouple failures
  • Substrate only - to replace leaking or damaged substrates
  • Substrate and internal assembly - for older probes where the two parts may have fused and cannot be replaced separately.
  • Full rebuild - includes sheath in addition to previous levels.

We will gladly undertake cleaning and testing of other manufacturers’ probes, but we can’t always guarantee to rebuild them.

Our PROBE BANK scheme allows you to manage your costs and cashflow by controlling when you want the assessed probe back. There’s no longer any need to decide immediately whether you want the probe repaired or scrapped — we quote a price for the rebuild, then hold it in component form in our PROBE BANK ready to supply it within 24 hours of your instructions. We e-mail you every month so you always know what your probe costs are likely to be.
